King Tide Today On Humboldt Bay

12_12_12_tide_shiftThe highest tide of the year is happening today in about an hour.  I’m headed down to take more photos on the water shortly.  There also happens to be a very low tide in the evening as well, with the tide dropping 10ft in about 9 hours.  Here’s a picture of yesterdays tide shift, along with a chart of what we’re looking at here shortly.  A variety of low lying areas are expected to experience flooding today, and many of the buildings near 1st street in Old Town, Eureka will even have water underneath them.  Wish I had time today to check out all the other King Tide flooding on the coast today, be sure to check out places like The North Coast Journal & Lost Coast Outpost for more photos tomorrow.
